Yerevan "Mkhitar Sebastatsi" Educational Complex

A manifestation of the learner’s and teacher’s personality in the open environment through creative and mobile educational work: educational program of gift development through educational calendar, educational projects, personal digital means.

 

Yerevan “Mkhitar Sebastatsi” Educational Complex of the Ministry of ES of RA was founded with the resolution of the Government of the Republic of Armenia in 1989 and Ashot Bleyan’s Author Educational Program. The Educomplex is a union of educational institutions realizing author (state alternative) educational programs: pre-school, primary, basic, secondary, vocational, experimental career college, further educational programs created, developed and implemented by the pedagogical staff. The Educomplex is an open system of developing, realizing and spreading author educational programs in the media and physical environment.       

The author educational programs are developed, organized and spread through the Educomplex development plans, which are accepted and included in the application of Ministry of ES of RA mid-term expenditure plan in the prescribed manner. The contents of the year's work are determined by the Ministry of Education and Science State Support Agreement. By paying tuition fees under study agreement, parents become clients for both the author educational program and physical environment. In the context of the base (student number) funding of the educational institution, such an organization makes the author educational program accessible. The material environment becomes educational. Learners are admitted to schools at their and their parents free choice without knowledge or skill checking examinations.   

An open system of the educational program  author-teacher’s professional development 

Non-stop development weekly workshops on the acquisition of media technology skills, autumn, winter, spring, June, August open schools for  educators (pre-school teachers, assistants to pre-school teachers, primary school teachers, teacher-organizers, child development specialists).  

Pedagogical four-language (Armenian, English, Russian, Georgian) journal Dpir in the result of non-stop learning teachers' research-creative-methodological work.

Physical and media environments are the learner's and teacher's laboratories for technological activities: they are created and served with the teachers' and learners' educational projects as a result of educational activities. This is also parents' joint investment program.

The educational physical environment is transparent, safe, hygienic, interesting, inclusive, continuously changing and developing: there are no physical barriers between the educational institutions and residential areas.    

The learners starting from Grade 1, teachers attend schools with personal tablets, net-books and note-books. Instruction is processed under WiFi coverage with smart boards and projectors in the classrooms, reading halls, laboratories, workshops and studios, planetarium, experimental plots, yards, in the field and hiking conditions, in the areas of cultural, historical and nature monuments, in the reservations, museums, concert halls, exhibitions, educational camps and creative gatherings.   

Educational media environment is a Multilanguage educational website mskh.am created and served by the teacher’s and learner’s educational work, media library, Sebastatsi TV and Radio, director-founder’s pedagogical blog, blogs of professional groups, educational centers, four-language pedagogical journal, youth and children’s periodicals, teachers and learners. Transformation of educational media skills by each educator in the educational activities by using the following digital means starting from age 2: computer programs, cameras, recorders, smart boards with projectors, electronic pens.   

The educational program is carried out with the educational calendar and educational projects. Individualization of curriculums through the activities courses at learner’s choice starting from Grade 1, through further education and youth clubs; adapting the organization of education to the individual’s peculiarities. Consistent development of self-reliance, autonomy, self-confidence, initiativeness, creativity, encouragement of mutual assistance, immediacy, starting from the pre-school. Open clubs of the development of learners’ preferences. Open, monthly flash mobs, annual creative gatherings, reviews, holidays, exhibitions, concerts, camps defined by the educational calendar; vacations, learners’ and teachers’ vocational projects. Educating a spectator, listener, reader with cultural demands, habits of following cultural events. Homework is considered to be supplementary education; organization of an extended day, non-stop teaching learning process; learners’ safe transportation. 

English andRussian are taught and used starting from Grade 1 with the help of computer programs. French, Spanish, Italian, German and Georgian are courses at learners’ choice starting from Grade 5.   

Educational exchanges inside and outside Armenia, public educational bridges. Participation of schools, classes, groups individuals in the annual international programs as educational projects. Convenient educational exchange lodgings.

Activities of new kind of educational institutions

School gardens, with their pre-school teachers and primary school teachers, ensuring the continuity of pre-school and elementary education through a smooth transition from kinder-garten to primary school.

A middle schoolof technological education; a high school of professional orientation and specialized education at individual’s free choice in complex conditions of high school and vocational college.  

Development and operation of an electronic system of complete reflection and visualization of the educational complex, educational institution, classroom, group, learner, teacher's activity. Providing the students’ parents with information, developing their media skills, involving them in the educational projects as partners. Fair System of accounting, evaluation and payment of pedagogical work.

Educational programs being implemented

  • Pre-school education: development of 2-4-year-old children, teaching 5-year-old children
    • Basic education: grades 1-3; integrated course Fun of Knowledge; Grades 4-5;

Grades 6-9

  • Secondary education: Grades 10-12 with individual curriculums
  • Vocational education through licensed professions: vocational 1-year education on the    basis of secondary education, vocational training on the basis of basic and secondary education
  • Additional education in educational centers, with free choice of learner, starting from Age 5.
